• Now, tap on the hamburger icon which is three horizontal lines. Then, scroll down to the bottom and tap on the “Settings & privacy” option.
• From there, select the “Settings” option.
• Now scroll down and look for the “Your information” section. From there, select the “Download your information” option.
• Now, you will see there are two options. One is “Request copy” and the other one is “Available copies”. So, stay in the “Request copy” option.
• Now, tap on the “Deselect all” button and put the check mark only on the “Messages” option. After that, scroll down to bottom, you can select the “Date range”, “Format” and “Media quality” as per your preference. Then tap on the “Create file” button.
• Now, scroll up and go to the “Available copies” option and you will see that your requested file is pending. So, you have to wait. Because it will take time to prepare data depending on the data and media size. After that you will be able to use it.
• So, that’s it.

 

If you are using Slightly Older Version of Facebook App

There are slight changes in the settings option on the older facebook app. So, follow this way:

• So, open the facebook app and login to your account.
• Now, tap on the hamburger icon which is three horizontal lines. Then, scroll down to the bottom and tap on the “Settings & privacy” option.
• From there, select the “Settings” option. Now, tap on the “Profile settings” option.
• Now scroll down and look for the “Your Facebook information” section. From there, select the “Download Profile information” option.
• Now, tap on the “Deselect all” button from the “Request copy” section and put the check mark only on the “Messages” option. 
• After that, scroll down to bottom, you can select the “Date range”, “Format” and “Media quality” as per your preference. 
• Then tap on the “Create file” button.
• Now, scroll up and go to the “Available copies” option and you will see that your requested file is pending. So, you have to wait. Because it will take time to prepare data depending on the data and media size. After that you will be able to use it.
• So, that’s it.
